SJAtrees
SJAtrees is an arboricultural planning consultancy based in Tadworth, Surrey.
Established in 1996, its team of consultants and surveyors specialises in trees and planning and since that time has provided a quality service to a broad range of clients, including national housebuilders and developers. SJAtrees doesn’t provide just a tree survey service: we undertake feasibility and full surveys of existing trees and woodlands to a high standard of detail; and then give clear advice on which trees can be removed without conflicting with planning policy. We then provide detailed and easy to follow plans showing the constraints on development imposed by trees that need to be retained; and work proactively and effectively with all members of the design team to enable architects, master planners, highway engineers and surface water engineers to design layouts that maximise the space available in a way that doesn’t harm these trees. Finally, we provide technical notes and impact assessment reports to accompany planning applications that demonstrate why the submitted proposals comply with arboricultural planning policy.
We have a very high success rate; only very rarely are our clients’ schemes turned down for arboricultural reasons. The team of consultants and arboricultural surveyors is led by managing director and principal consultant Simon Jones, who has 35 years’ experience in this sector; and by operations director and senior consultant Frank Spooner, who has over 15 years’ experience. Both are Registered Arboricultural Consultants, both have extensive qualifications and experience of ancient woodland, veteran trees and the contribution of trees and woodlands to calculations of biodiversity net gain; and both act frequently as arboricultural witnesses at appeals and Public Inquiries.
